NOTE (December 2020): Facebook quietly removed the likes_and_reactions/posts_and_comments.json file from the the downloadable data. This file contained details of your Facebook likes (arguably the most interesting data). Instructions
1. Log in at https://www.facebook.com and tap on the icon in the top-right (three horizontal lines)
NOTE: These instructions are for a mobile browser (e.g. Safari). You can also use the Facebook app (the steps are very similar).
2. Scroll down and tap on Settings



3. Scroll down and tap on Download your information

4. Tap DESELECT ALL and then select Posts, Comments and Likes and reactions


5. Scroll down to the bottom and change the format to JSON and then tap CREATE FILE


6. Wait
You will get an e-mail letting you know that you requested the data. It shouldn’t take more than a few minutes before you get another one to tell you that you can…

7. Tap DOWNLOAD (and again Download on the confirmation)
You might be asked for your password again before it will let you download the file…

8. Tap on the download icon (top-right) and then on the magnifying glass to view the download (in Files)


9. Tap on the downloaded file to un-zip it


10. Tap on comments.json (in comments), posts_and_comments.json (in likes_and_reactions) and your_posts_1.json (in posts) to import the data into Sownata




11. Tap Done and then tap on the View Events Tab. Check that you can see events for your recent Facebook activity.
12. Tap on the Dashboard Tab. See if you can answer the following questions by navigating around the data using the chart title..
- Do you use Facebook more than you used to?
- Who do you interact with the most on Facebook?
- What type of Facebook user are you?
